A Fresh Take on Prevention
It all begins with an idea.
As a nurse, I worked in a neurology unit at the Cleveland Clinic. I really loved my job and caring for people. But when I became frustrated in my work, I knew something had to change. And because I would see so many people coming in with preventable, treatable illnesses that eventually led to something devastating like a stroke, I felt the system was more of a health reaction system, not a care system, not a wellness system. I decided I wanted to dedicate my life to promoting preventive healthcare. I want to help people take their health back.

There are two types of Diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the insulin-producing cells. Type 2 is characterized by insulin resistance or a deficiency. Type 2 is often linked to lifestyle factors like obesity and lack of physical activity, and also has a genetic component.
Lifestyle changes, such as regular exercise, a healthy diet, and weight management, can significantly impact diabetes management and help prevent or delay complications. Some individuals may achieve remission through lifestyle changes and treatment.

Behavioral and psychological science indicates three months is needed to develop lasting change. Individual counseling includes weekly one hour private meetings, an individualized nutrition plan, and food journal audits.
